Wenger Contracting Inc., one of the premier residential design-build firms in our area, is seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Carpenter to join our team.
In this role, you’ll:
- Lead high-end residential remodeling projects from start to finish
- Coordinate day-to-day operations, field crews, and subcontractors
- Ensure the highest level of craftsmanship and a great client experience
- A Lead Carpenter at Wenger is a true jack of all trades—from tile and drywall to minor roofing and small mechanical alterations. No two days are the same. Key Responsibilities
- Lead residential remodeling projects from start to completion
- Coordinate daily and weekly tasks for field crews and subcontractors
- Perform high-quality carpentry, framing, trim, and finish work
- Execute tile work, drywall repairs, minor roofing, and small mechanical tasks (ductwork, exhaust vents, etc.)
- Ensure all work complies with design specifications, building codes, and safety standards
- Communicate effectively with clients, team members, and project managers
- Track materials, tools, tasks, and schedules using digital tools and apps
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site
- Proactively troubleshoot and solve problems throughout each project
Qualifications
- 10–12 years of hands-on residential carpentry/remodeling experience
- Proven ability to manage projects independently and lead small teams
- Broad skill set including carpentry, tile, drywall, minor roofing, and light mechanical work
- Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills
- Comfortable using construction technology (tablets, project management apps)
- Comfortable with heights and working on ladders, pump jacks, scaffolding, and roofs
- Punctual, dependable, and professional
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Valid driver’s license required

This role is ideal for a mid-level carpenter with 6–8 years of experience who wants to grow with a company that values precision, professionalism, and a strong team dynamic.
At Wenger, our carpenters are true jacks-of-all-trades—taking on tile work, small drywall repairs, light roofing, and minor mechanical alterations (such as ductwork and exhaust vent installations) as part of our design-build approach. Key Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on carpentry including framing, trim, and finish work
- Take on a variety of remodeling tasks including tile work, minor drywall repairs, light roofing, and small mechanical jobs (ductwork, vent installations, etc.)
- Execute assigned tasks efficiently and accurately according to design plans
- Work closely with site leads and team members to support daily project goals
- Follow all safety standards and maintain a clean, organized job site
- Use digital tools for tracking progress, updates, and communication
- Take initiative in learning new techniques and growing your carpentry skills
- Communicate clearly and professionally with team leads and peers
Qualifications
- 6–8 years of carpentry experience in residential construction or remodeling
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and complete tasks independently
- Proficient in the safe, accurate use of hand and power tools
- Familiarity with construction technology and willingness to learn new platforms
- Punctual, organized, and open to constructive feedback
- Valid driver’s license required
